Jets Trade Zach Wilson to Broncos for Sixth-Round Pick

Broncos Acquire Former No. 2 Overall Pick

Rodgers' Arrival Led to Wilson's Departure

The New York Jets have traded quarterback Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round pick, the teams announced on Monday. Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, was acquired by the Broncos along with a seventh-round pick. The Broncos gave up a sixth-round pick in the deal.

The move comes a year after the Jets traded for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was expected to start ahead of Wilson. Wilson struggled during his time in New York, completing just 55.6% of his passes and throwing for 4,217 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions in 23 career games.

The Jets are now left with Rodgers and Mike White as their only quarterbacks on the roster. Rodgers is 39 years old and entering the final year of his contract, while White is a 28-year-old backup with limited starting experience.

The Broncos, meanwhile, add a young quarterback with plenty of potential to their roster. Wilson is just 23 years old and has shown flashes of talent in limited playing time. He will compete with Brett Rypien and Josh Johnson for the starting job in Denver.
