Mavar Appeared in 98 Episodes of Reality Fishing Show

Nick Mavar, a deckhand who served alongside Captain Sig Hansen on the Northwestern for 17 seasons of the reality fishing show "Deadliest Catch," has died at the age of 59. Mavar's death was confirmed by the Bristol Bay Borough Police Department, who found him dead on Thursday in a boat yard in Naknek, Alaska.

The cause of Mavar's death is still under investigation, but police said it is believed to be natural causes. Mavar joined the cast of "Deadliest Catch" in 2005 and quickly became a fan favorite. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and sense of humor.

Mavar left the show in 2021 after nearly two decades of working on the Northwestern. He had appeared in 98 episodes of the show during his time as a deckhand.
