Chelsea Held to 2-2 Draw by Wrexham in Pre-Season Friendly
Late Goal Rescues Blues in Enzo's First Game
Chelsea's pre-season preparations got off to a disappointing start as they were held to a 2-2 draw by lower-league Wrexham on Tuesday. Enzo Maresca's first game in charge of the Blues ended with a draw after Lesley Ugochukwu's late goal rescued a point.
Enzo's Debut Underwhelms
Maresca, who was appointed as Chelsea manager last month, would have been hoping for a more positive result in his first game. However, his side struggled to impose themselves on the game and were fortunate to escape with a draw.
Late Drama
Chelsea fell behind to Wrexham's Paul Mullin in the first half, but they equalized through Mason Mount's penalty shortly after the break. Wrexham regained the lead through Jordan Ponticelli in the 75th minute, but Ugochukwu's header in the 82nd minute ensured that the Blues avoided defeat.
